Lead stands and lead hooks keep welding leads, power cables, and compressed-air hoses off the floor and out of walkways. Two problems solved: trip-hazard reduction for workers moving through the area, and cable service-life extension by keeping leads away from grinding debris, slag, chemical spills, and foot traffic.

• Magnetic lead hooks — attach to steel surfaces and beams on ferrous sites. Ideal for shipyards and structural work.
• Overhead lead runners — for longer-term installations where leads need to cross walkways.

Hook capacity and load

Typical lead hooks support 25–50 kg of cable, hose, or combined assembly. For heavy-duty welding cables (70–95 mm² copper, water-cooled torches), specify heavy-duty hooks rated to the combined weight plus a safety factor.

Pair with the rest of the kit

For safer walkways during welding work, combine with safety chain and cones to clearly define "lead-zone" walking lanes.

Frequently asked questions

Does cable management actually extend lead life?

Yes — materially. Welding leads on the floor pick up slag burns, chemical contamination, and physical abrasion. A suspended lead routinely lasts 2–3× longer than a floor-run lead. The stand pays for itself within a few cable cycles.

Can I use general-purpose hooks instead of lead hooks?

Standard hooks often have sharp internal radii that crimp and damage insulation on thick welding cables. Purpose-designed lead hooks have smooth rolling surfaces that spread the cable load evenly.
