Site safety products
The equipment that defines, secures, and controls a worksite — barricade tape, bollards, traffic cones, safety chain, lockout tags, first aid kits, and more. None of these items protect an individual worker; they protect the site itself by delineating hazards, excluding unauthorised access, and marking out exclusion zones. Correctly selected and placed, they're the first layer of most site safety plans.

Integrating site safety products into a PPE program
Site safety products are usually specified at the site-level rather than per worker — the site supervisor or safety officer selects what's needed for the specific project, not individual tradies. Build the basic kit around your highest-risk activities: if it's vehicle-adjacent work, prioritise cones and bollards; if it's underground services, prioritise flagging tape; if it's electrical isolation, prioritise lockout tags.
AS 1742 and traffic management
Any worksite affecting public roads must comply with AS 1742 (Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices). This specifies minimum cone spacings, signage, taper distances, and advance warning requirements. Check your state's road authority for supplementary requirements (VicRoads, TfNSW, Transport and Main Roads Queensland, etc.).
Frequently asked questions
What's the minimum kit for a small construction site?
As a baseline: 10 traffic cones, 100m barricade tape, a 20-person first aid kit, a set of lockout tags, and star picket caps for any temporary fencing. Add bollards and bunting as site scale grows.
Are reflective cones required for night work?
Yes — AS 1742.3 requires retro-reflective collars on traffic cones used in low-light conditions. Typical spec is one 100 mm reflective collar for 450–700 mm cones, two collars for 900 mm cones.
How often should first aid kits be replenished?
Inspect monthly; replace expired or used items. Adhesive dressings, eyewash, and burn gel all have limited shelf lives. A dedicated sign-out log helps track kit depletion and trigger reorders.
Are there Australian standards for barricade tape?
Barricade tape itself isn't directly standards-regulated, but AS 1742.3 requires specific colour-coding for specific hazards — red/white for general hazard, yellow/black for caution/stand-off, and asbestos-specific tapes for asbestos work under AS 2601.
Do you offer trade or bulk pricing?
Yes — trade accounts get 5% off RRP, and bulk pricing applies across consumables like tape, cones, and chain. Starter site kits can be built to spec; contact us for quotes. Apply for a trade account →
