Sun protection accessories
The supporting kit that makes a workforce sun-protection program actually stick — pump dispensers so workers can quickly apply at crib-break, sachet packs for glove boxes, neck gaiters and face shields to cover the bits a hat can't reach, and UPF-rated cooling sleeves for hot-weather outdoor work.
Dispensing accessories
- Bulk pump bottles — 500 mL to 2 L pumps for crib rooms and site-office entries. Encourages workers to reapply on the way back out after lunch.
- Wall-mount dispenser cradles — hold the pump bottle at the right height in site offices, amenities, and workshops.
- Sachet packs — 5 mL to 10 mL sachets for glove boxes, personal-issue bags, and field kits. Zero-waste-mix; no sharing contamination.
- Refill containers — bulk refills for topping up pump dispensers without replacing the bottle.
Wearables
- Neck gaiters / sun tubes — elasticated tubes that cover the back of neck and lower face. UPF 30–50 rated; also double as hot-weather cooling when wetted.
- Legionnaire-style cap accessories — clip-on neck flaps that convert a standard cap to sun-safe coverage.
- UPF sleeves — fitted elasticated sleeves worn over short-sleeve shirts, providing UPF 50+ arm protection without the heat of a full long-sleeve.
- Balaclavas and hood combinations — for extreme-UV environments (mining, open cut, glaciers/snow, high-altitude).
Hat accessories
Brim attachments for hard hats that add a wide sun-protection brim — convert a standard hard hat into a Cancer Council-approved sun-safe hat. Typically elasticated UPF 50+ fabric that clips around the hard-hat shell. Compatible with most AS/NZS 1801 helmets.
UPF ratings
Garments sold as sun-protective in this range carry a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rating under AS/NZS 4399:
- UPF 15–24 — good protection (93–96% UV blocked).
- UPF 25–39 — very good protection (96–97.5% UV blocked).
- UPF 40+ — excellent protection (97.5%+). Preferred for all-day outdoor work.
UPF rating applies to the fabric; coverage is the other half — a UPF 50 t-shirt leaves the arms exposed, and a UPF 50 sleeve only covers what it covers. Combine with long-sleeve workwear for full protection.
Compatibility with other PPE
Neck gaiters must not interfere with respirator seals, safety-glass fit, or hard-hat chin straps. Test the full PPE combination before issuing workforce-wide. Soft-cotton or stretch-fabric gaiters generally work; bulky fleece tubes can compromise respirator face-seal.
Standards & compliance
UPF-rated garments certified to AS/NZS 4399. Sunscreen dispensing products do not have a specific regulatory standard beyond food-contact safety (AS 2070) for the dispenser material.
Frequently asked questions
Do UPF sleeves replace long-sleeve workwear?
For UV protection on exposed arms, yes — a UPF 50 sleeve provides equivalent UV protection to a UPF 50 long-sleeve shirt, while being cooler in hot weather. They don't replace long sleeves for abrasion or heat protection (welding, grinding, hot work).
Are wall-mounted sunscreen dispensers practical for a site?
Yes — at crib-room entries, site-office entries, and workshop doorways, a wall-mount pump encourages re-application at natural workflow moments. Without visible dispensers, most workers re-apply maybe once a day instead of every 2 hours.
Can I use a UPF neck gaiter with a half-face respirator?
Check carefully — bulky fabric can break the respirator's face seal. For most respirator uses, keep the gaiter below the respirator (covering only the neck) or switch to a lighter stretch-fabric variant that conforms to the face under the mask.
Do you offer trade or bulk pricing?
Yes — trade accounts receive 5% off RRP, and workforce sun-program bundles (dispensers + sunscreen + UPF sleeves + gaiters) qualify for volume pricing. Apply for a trade account →
