Both add 360° coverage, but full brim extends further out — especially to the front and rear — giving deeper shade and better rain protection. Full brim is the choice for all-day sun exposure in northern Australia, where UV index regularly exceeds 11. Broad brim offers lighter weight and a smaller profile for site navigation.

Frequently asked questions

Does the bigger brim catch the wind?

In gusty conditions, full brim helmets can be pushed by strong wind, especially on elevated work. Add a chin strap — required anyway for work above 2m — to prevent displacement.

Can I wear a full brim under a welding hood?

No — full brim profiles are incompatible with most welding hoods. For welding work, use a standard peak hard hat or a welding-compatible helmet system.

Is the brim detachable?

No — the full brim is part of the moulded shell for certified impact performance. If you want switchable brim types, buy separate helmets for each use-case.
